Overnight oats are so easy to whip up. And, you can make them with lots of different flavorings!

Try chocolate overnight oats, espresso overnight oats or matcha overnight oats.

If you prefer hot oatmeal, give my blueberry baked oatmeal cups a try. They are also great for meal planning and of course, extremely delicious.

    Overnight Oats For Life!

Meal prep: Cinnamon bun overnight oats are a great make-ahead breakfast.

Nutritious: Nutrient dense whole grain oats, chia seeds, hemp hearts and just a dab of maple syrup.

Fast: This quick, easy recipe can be made in 10 minutes flat with little cleanup. It's simple, fool-proof and straightforward.

Allergy friendly: Gluten-free friendly, egg free and easily made dairy free by using your favorite plant based milk.

    Your Grocery List

    • Oats: Whole grain rolled oats are best, quick oats will work in a pinch.
    • Mix-ins: Hemp hearts and chia seeds. Hemp hearts add nice nutty flavor, but you can leave them out if preferred.
    • Sweetener: I've made this recipe with both maple syrup and brown sugar. Both are super tasty!
    • Ground cinnamon: I use a half teaspoon, you can add a little more or less if desired. A sprinkle of nutmeg would also be a delicious addition.
    • Sea salt: Or regular table salt.
    • Pure vanilla extract: Or imitation vanilla.
    • Milk: Dairy or non-dairy milk can be used in this recipe. I like using oat milk, almond milk or coconut milk.
    • Optional toppings & mix-ins: Whipped cream, toasted pecans, fresh berries or fruit, granola, toasted coconut flakes, extra cinnamon, espresso powder, etc.

    Expert Tips

    • Chill time: Though they're referred to as overnight oats, you can enjoy after soaking about 2 hours.
    • Large batch: Instead of individual servings, make one big batch of oats and scoop into containers as needed.
    • Milk: Use extra milk for thinner oats and less for thicker.
    • Protein-packed: Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. You can also mix in Greek yogurt for extra protein!

    Serving Suggestions

Overnight oats are really yummy all on their own. Of course, they go perfectly with a big cup of hot coffee.

They also pair nicely with savory breakfast foods like sausage, bacon or fluffy scrambled eggs.

    Special Equipment

I really like these 7oz glass jars. They include lids and are perfect for easy transportation. You can also use a small bowl or tupperware.

A mini whisk is handy for making overnight oatmeal, but a spoon will do just fine!

    How To Store

Store oats in a mason jar or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. I personally feel the flavor is better within the first 3 days.

If desired, stir in an additional splash of milk before eating. I like doing this to add extra creaminess and to thin my oats out a little. They can get pretty thick over time!
