A quick overview - making simple roasted asparagus:

    • First, preheat oven to 400°F.
    • Rinse and dry your asparagus, remove woody ends.
    • Spread asparagus on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Use your hands to move the asparagus around so all the stalks get covered with oil.
    • Sprinkle with salt and pepper and bake for around 15 minutes.
    • Allow to cool and enjoy.
    • Optional: for a fun variation you can drizzle your roasted asparagus with homemade hot honey for a little sweet and heat!

How long do you bake/roast asparagus at 400°F?

A medium thick asparagus (shown in photos) will need to bake/roast for about 15 minutes at 400°F. If you purchase really thin or thick asparagus stalks, you'll need to adjust bake time up or down accordingly. You can also roast your asparagus at a lower temperature if you prefer. At 350°F or 375°F it will simply take a little bit longer. Add 2-3 minutes for each 25° interval.

How do I know when my asparagus is done?

Once you can easily pierce through the thickest part of the stalk with a fork, your asparagus is done!

    Ingredients

    • 1 bunch asparagus *see note below
    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    • Salt & pepper to taste *see note below

    Recipe notes:

Asparagus: I prefer to buy a medium thick asparagus for roasting. Sometimes really thin asparagus can end up stringy and extra thick asparagus can take longer to roast.
Salt: kosher salt is really yummy on roasted asparagus! The grains in kosher salt are a little bigger, so you get a nice bit of crunch. I highly recommend giving it a try, but regular salt will work great, too.

    Instructions

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F
    • Rinse and dry asparagus. Remove woody/tough ends and arrange asparagus on a baking sheet.
    • Drizzle about a tablespoon of olive oil over asparagus. Use your hands to move stalks around to cover them completely with oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    • Bake for 10-15 minutes.
    • Allow to cool and enjoy!
