Guys these pizzas are really easy and it's hard to mess them up. In my experience, they cook FAST. Checking on them after a few minutes of cooking is the best way to guarantee perfection.

English muffins toast up so perfectly in the air fryer (or oven) which creates a really satisfying and crunchy crust exterior. Cover that in gooey cheese and all your favorite toppings? Chef's kiss! 🤌🏻👩🏻‍🍳😘

You can also make tortilla pizzas rather than english muffin!

    • English Muffin Pizzas (Air Fryer Or Oven)

    The Easiest Pizza Night!

No dough: No need to make dough since we're using english muffins as our crust. You can also mix things up and make flatbread or tortillas pizzas!

Quick & simple: Spread sauce, sprinkle with cheese, add toppings and pop in the air fryer or oven.

Quantity: Make a few or make a lot! Finished but still hungry? Quickly whip up one or two more.

Customizable: Keep the whole family happy and let each person create their own pizza! Everyone can choose their own toppings which is great for picky eaters.

Lunch: English muffin pizzas are also really great for lunch. You can make them ahead of time and reheat in an air fryer or oven for just a few minutes. I don't really recommend reheating in the microwave to avoid sogginess.

Use up leftovers: You know that quarter of an onion and half pepper sitting in your refrigerator? Use them as pizza toppings! It always feels good to reduce food waste.

    Your Grocery List

    • English muffins: I buy store brand! For some reason, store brand english muffins are often egg and dairy free which nicely accommodates my toddlers food allergies. You can use any brand you like, though! And don't forget that whole wheat is an option.
    • Pizza sauce: Kroger brand pizza sauce is my absolute favorite.
    • Cheese: Whole milk shredded mozzarella is my go-to. For my daughter I get Violife Mozzarella Style Shreds. They melt nicely and taste really similar to real mozzarella though they don't brown as nicely.
    • Toppings: You can totally make plain cheese pizzas but we usually add pepperoni! I quarter full size pepperoni slices but you can buy mini ones if preferred.

    Should I Pre-Toast My Muffins?

Most brands of English muffins are really porous with lots of nooks and crannies, like the one pictured on the left below (King Soopers store brand)! These holes drink up a lot of sauce, skip pre-toasting and they may end up a bit soggy. If your muffins look like the one on the right (Safeway store brand) with less pores and crannies, you can usually get away without pre-toasting.

How To Make English Muffin Pizzas

Keep scrolling for the full recipe card and measurements. We’ll start here with a quick overview!

    Halve muffins:

    • If you're using the oven, preheat it to 400°F. Some air fryers also require preheating, so fire it up if necessary!
    • Halve your english muffins and arrange them cut side up. You can fork split or use a knife.
    • Most English muffins will require a quick pre-toasting before adding toppings to avoid soggy centers. Simply air-fry or oven bake until slightly golden (3-5 minutes).

    English muffins: half are pre-toasted.

    Add toppings:

    • Spread 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each muffin half.
    • Add a little cheese, then desired toppings, and another sprinkle of cheese on top!

    Air fry or bake:

    • Air fry at 400°F for 3-5 minutes. Bake at 400°F for 8-10. These little pizzas cook fast so be sure to check on them sooner rather than later! Once the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned, your pizzas are done.

    Serve and enjoy!

    Stacey's Top Tip 🍕

Pre-toasting your English muffins for just a few minutes will keep them from getting soggy in the center!

    Flavor & Toppings Variations

    • All the veggies: Top your pizzas with diced yellow onion, peppers, olives, mushrooms and cheese. This would be a fun meatless Monday meal.
    • Margherita pizza: Tomatoes, basil and extra mozzarella.
    • Meat lovers: Cooked sausage crumbles, extra pepperoni, ham, bacon, salami, prosciutto, ground beef. You get the picture!
    • Hawaiian: Some love it and some hate it. I'm personally a lover of the pineapple and ham combo. Bacon bits are a great substitute for ham.
    • Bbq chicken: Use leftover crockpot bbq chicken, shredded mozzarella, thinly sliced red onion and some fresh basil. Yum!

    Serving Suggestions

Serve your pizzas with garden salad and some creamy ranch for dipping. A fruit tray is also a nice side for pizza and watermelon slices are a must during the summer months.

    How To Store & Reheat

Storing leftovers: Place leftover pizzas in an airtight container or Ziploc bag and refrigerate 3-4 days. Leftovers also freeze beautifully! I like to stack three pizzas together and wrap them tightly in foil for freezer storage.

How to reheat: I recommend reheating in the air fryer or oven at 400°F for 2-3 minutes, or until warmed though (this works for frozen pizzas too). You can also use the microwave but this won't restore crispiness like the over or air fryer.

    • 14 ounce jar pizza sauce *See note below
    • 8 ounces whole milk shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 2-3 ounces pepperoni *See note below

    Optional:

    Recipe notes:

Pizza sauce: I purchase a 14 oz jar and usually have some leftover.
Pepperoni: I quarter full size pepperoni but you can buy mini ones if preferred.

    Instructions

    • If you plan to bake your pizzas in the oven, preheat it to 400℉. Some air fryers also require preheating.
    • Slice or fork separate english muffins. Pre-toast them, without toppings, for about 3 minutes until lightly golden. This will prevent a soggy center.
    • Add 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce to each muffin and spread evenly.
    • Add a sprinkle of cheese to each muffin, then toppings, and another bit of cheese on top!
    • Air fry pizzas for 3-5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. Baking will take a bit longer, around 7-10 minutes.
    • Serve with a simple garden salad or fruit salad. Ranch is fun for dipping! Enjoy!
