Tomato peach and basil salad is the perfect end of summer side. Stone fruits and tomatoes are both in season and taste extra scrumptious this time of year! This gorgeous dish is basically a little caprese salad made with creamy mozzarella balls and it's sure to delight.

In this recipe I use creamy mozzarella cheese, one of the best tasting things in the world if you ask me! I also love burrata cheese which is quite similar to mozzarella and made in a similar fashion.

Ingredients & Substitutions
- Juicy peaches: Ripe, juicy, yellow peaches are my favorite. You can use white peaches if preferred. If you've got access to Palisade Peaches, that's the absolute best option in my humble (Colorado native) opinion.
- Tomatoes: I use cherry tomatoes for this recipe. You can use grape tomatoes, too. However, I have always preferred the taste of cherry tomatoes because they tend to be juicier and extra sweet. You can also slice up larger beefsteak or heirloom tomatoes if preferred.
- Mozzarella cheese: I love using mini, mozzarella pearls. You can also buy a large ball of mozzarella and cut or tear it into smaller pieces. Creamy burrata cheese is also a fabulous substitute.
- Extra virgin olive oil: Avocado oil will also work, though olive oil has a nice peppery flavor that goes great in this salad.
- White wine vinegar: For just a touch of tang! You can also use red wine vinegar or a splash of lemon juice instead.
- Fresh basil leaves: Add gorgeous dark green color, the best flavor and wonderful aromatics.
- Red onion: Just a touch of diced red onion adds nice crunch.
- Salt: Flaky sea salt is my recommendation, though both kosher and regular table salt work fine.
- Pepper: Fresh cracked black pepper or regular ground black pepper.
- Balsamic glaze: You can also use balsamic vinegar but balsamic glaze is thicker and sweeter. It sticks to all of the ingredients a lot better where balsamic vinegar will pool at the bottom of your bowl.
How To Make Tomato Peach Salad

Add ingredients to bowl:
- Rinse produce and pat dry. Dice peaches, halve tomatoes and place them in a large mixing bowl. You can also use peach slices, I just prefer to cut mine up a little smaller.
- Add mozzarella cheese, diced red onion, chopped fresh basil, olive oil, white wine vinegar, fresh cracked pepper and salt to the bowl.
Mix well:
- Stir until all ingredients are well incorporated!
Plate and serve:
- Transfer your salad to a serving platter. Add extra salt and pepper garnish if desired, and then generously drizzle with balsamic glaze! Of course, you can just serve your salad right out of the mixing bowl if you don't want to get another dish dirty.
Expert Tips
- My best tip for this recipe? Be sure to use balsamic glaze, not balsamic vinegar. It's easy to confuse the two, but balsamic glaze is thicker and sweeter than regular balsamic vinegar and will stick to the salad ingredients much better. Balsamic vinegar will really just pool at the bottom of your serving platter or bowl.
Fun Recipe Variations
Toppings: Top with pine nuts, roasted pumpkin seeds or chopped walnuts for extra crunch. Or, drizzle with some blueberry vinaigrette or creamy Greek yogurt balsamic dressing.
Make it spicy! For some heat, add a sprinkling of crushed red pepper flakes or even some hot honey.
Croutons: Add croutons to create a panzanella-like rendition of this salad.
No tomatoes: Use peaches only!
No peaches: Use tomatoes only!
Add other veggies: Crunchy cucumber, fresh sweet corn or creamy avocado would all be nice additions to this recipe.
Cheese: Use crumbled feta cheese, goat cheese or burrata cheese instead of mozzarella! Or leave the cheese out all-together for a dairy free tomato-peach salad.

Tomato peach caprese salad is great all on it's own as a light lunch, but it's also a lovely side dish.
- Bread! Crostini or a piece of crusty French bread are fabulous with tomato-peach salad. I especially like serving this salad with bread when having it for lunch.
- Chicken: I love serving this salad alongside simple grilled chicken, Almond Crusted Chicken, Creamy One Skillet Chicken Thighs or Blue Cheese Stuffed Chicken.
- Zucchini: Peak zucchini season overlaps with tomato and peach season so I often like making Zucchini Shrimp Alfredo or Zucchini Squash & Corn Casserole with this salad.
- Healthy comfort food: Light and refreshing, this salad perfectly compliments cozier comfort food like my Porcupine Meatballs, Pumpkin Chicken Curry, Shepherd's Pie or Sweet Potato Ground Beef Casserole.

Peaches: It's important to purchase nice, ripe peaches for this recipe so they'll be sweet! Tomatoes: I use cherry tomatoes which have the best flavor, in my opinion. Grape tomatoes also work. You can chop up larger varieties as well (garden tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, etc). Mozzarella: I use a full, 8oz pack of mini mozzarella pearls for this recipe!
